Beauty is nothing but the beginning of terror, which we still are just able to endure, and we are so awed because it serenely disdains to annihilate us. Every angel is terrifying.

Roger Voiceover: What happened later is not in the history books.
Tatsu: Doctor Lamb? It's an honor to --
Lola: The honor's mine, doctor. I wanted a look at your prodigy. Come on out, dear.
Dahnai: No, I don't think so. I'm not a zoo exhibit.
Lola: Hmn, you should be.
Tatsu: Now wait just a --
Lola: Relax, doctor Fumiaki. Your experiment is safe. Because of the courts, no one can touch her. But she'll die of old age in what, five more years? The world can tolerate an abomination for that short a time. Then there'll never be another like her. I'm working on a project to make sure of that. Maybe I'll get a chance to examine her corpse. Let's go, boys.

  1. мaгтэи says:

And thus Fumiaki became even more involved thanks to the brainchild of a crazed AI.
Meanwhile, the founding reasoning behind the project suddenly looks to be based more on intolerance than necessity.

  2. kaze says:

to be fair geneticly modified anything is scary as hell. I’ve all but given up on corn in my diet if it’s not organic and non gmo project.

  3. SCAScot says:

Jacob Doe + Hair + Sunglasses = Horatio Caine

  4. Ming the Merciless says:

Not ONE single agricultural product is not genetically modified…try to eat the Indians’ corn or spuds…Tobacco was an ubiquitous weed…try find one single wild tobacco plant…politically correct thinking is getting weirder by the minute! On the other hand, If Docteur Moreau had stayed on his island…the exercise in youthful blasphemy(as H G Wells called it) was NOT particularly appreciated by it’s patients…
But now, in the name of avoiding cruelty to animals, we now have to avoid cruelty to plants, according to Green Peace!

  5. Skur says:

You are of course aware, that we lack the longterm observations necessary to make regular people feel safe with consuming…you know…artificial mutant plants? In contrast to just…you know…plants, which have proven to be of little hazardousness throughout the last millennium.
    Rather than…you know…”cruelty to plants”.

  6. Gillsing says:

As a modern human I already live a very artificial life, so what’s a little GMO gonna do? There might be bad long term effects for my health, but most likely not.

  7. EveryZig says:

The health risks of common, non-modified foods are still being researched and debated today (at least, judging by what you hear in the news every once an a while on some discovered benefit or risk association). Sure, modified food might be produced with subtle long-term risks, but all foods have that risk.
