I want people to smile — did you notice? Funerals always end up with someone smiling: it’s natural, it’s Life taking over Death.

Chapter 6, Page 23

I tend to count ‘lasts’ when I’m doing a comic. The last time I needed to draw Captain Threenipple’s ship…the last time I needed to draw snow…

Finally, it is the last time that I need to draw Caera’s pupils. šŸ™‚

All right. On to the next chapter, which should look a little different. I’m making another attempt to step up the art, and so far it’s looking good. But I do need my traditional one week off between chapters. It’s a week I already spent during the holidays. So — The comic will return on Monday, January 28th. I think what you see then will knock your socks off (or your pupils out). See you then!

Kevin: You'll get injections in this hyperbaric chamber. That'll take about two weeks, eight hours a day. Then surgery, to replace your endocrine system. Then skeletal ceramization treatments, and training.
Caera: What about the eyes?
Kevin: Eyes?
Caera: Your eyes...all you genocide men...your eyes are so cold and dead. As if you've lost your souls.
Kevin: The procedure doesn't affect the eyes.

  1. Skur says:

Hah. You once said it wasn’t like that, but it still has this subā€boss/endā€boss feel.

  2. kaze says:

ah gotta love long pauses like that. some one’s not telling the whole truth.

  3. Sonja says:

Caera, you don’t know what you started… Hopefully white eyes go with her complexion.

I wish a nice week off!

  4. Cyrian says:

Im curious. Do you take the week off just to have a little break or do you organise or plan something out in advance?
I don’t know anything about making comics, so please just think of this as an innocent inquiry.

  5. Remus Shepherd says:

Sometimes I spend a break working on new side projects, such as advertisements. Sometimes I just need to increase the buffer — if the buffer gets to zero, I’ll miss an update or have to put up slapdash art.

Best to plan the breaks around the regular chapter breaks, I think. But I’ve been thinking about doing some polls to see what you readers might want…

  6. To quote Brother Dave Gardner, my favorite comedian from many years ago: “But how do he know?”

  7. DanielLC says:

Why is it the last time you need to draw her pupils? It sounds like it’s being a genocide man that does that, and that would take a while.

  8. Benjack33 says:

What if the eyes are White on genocide people because they faster then other people Can capture the images of the genocide People’s eyes. With mean They Got normal eyes just that we cant se it.?

  9. Remus Shepherd says:

I use the empty eyes as an artistic shorthand to set the Genocide Men apart from other people. I’m just having Caera comment on it for fun. šŸ™‚

  10. Skur says:

Wait, so Jacob and Joey and all the lovely crew do have a pupil and an iris?

(On a sidenote: I woke up an hour ago from a dream that I wait for Joey and his henchmen with Jacob and the gang, very much expecting that the former would swiftly kill all nonā€Jacobs present. Frightened the living hell out of me, so congratulations on creating a new Bogeyman.)

  11. Remus Shepherd says:

Let me leave the rest of the eye questions up to the readers’ interpretation. Artistically, the Genocide Men have no pupils to signify their damaged souls. However you want to imagine their real-life appearance is okay by me. šŸ™‚
