My life is not an endless cavalcade of explosions, you know. There’s also animal attacks, fire, sharp objects and blunt force trauma.

Chapter 8, Page 7

Let’s have a little revelation in the middle of our fight to the death, shall we? Don’t worry, we should be back to Joey vs. Jacob next page.

Also, it’s time for me to make an announcement: I’m kicking off the 2013 Genocide Man Cash for Art Giveaway!

I want to fill the published book with art extras, and I’m throwing money around to get that extra art. So if you’re an artist, click on the image and read the details. If you’re not an artist but you know one, spread the word!

Peter: Lola, I must protest.
Lola: Yes, Peter. You always do.
Peter: The Lethe chemicals are contraindicated by our military augments. The combination could cause progressive amnesia.
Jacob: Lola, how often have we done this? I told you that I can't remember my childhood...is this the reason?
Lola: Yes, Jacob. Every time you use your power you forget a bit of your past. It can't be helped. We're trying to save the world. We've planned a worldwide release with a genetic therapy package. It will boost the human immune system to end the global pandemics. We'll have the keys to the kingdom, of course. Our plagues will be perfectly lethal. We can also reduce testosterone and adrenal response. If we make the population more docile, we can end wars entirely. Kevin and I are in agreement. We need one more vote to launch the plan.

Discussion (10)¬

  1. Ming the Merciless says:

    Alternate name for the comic:
“Hell is paved with good intentions”
Saint Bernard of Clairvaux who wrote (c. 1150), “L’enfer est plein de bonnes volontés et désirs”

  2. Jacek says:

    They neutered the world…..

  3. Zarpaulus says:

Testosterone doesn’t cause wars, at least not the big ones, it’s power-hungry leaders that do. The Will to Power is universal, and it’s always psychopaths who go furthest because they have no limits. All the gene therapy would do in regards to war is make it easier for some dictator to conquer the nations that respect human rights and find themselves lacking in volunteers while neo-Hitler pumps his conscripts full of steroids.

  4. Remus Shepherd says:

True, Zarpaulus. But if you *are* a neo-Hitler dictator, it looks like a pretty sweet plan. 🙂

  5. Zarpaulus says:

And looking at the timeline I realize something horrifying, not only was Guyaquil the worst pandemic the world population is dropping even after the plagues ended. The Genocide Project may have sealed humanity’s fate in their attempt to preserve it.

  6. SCAScot says:

Well, with “aggressive tendencies” come other…urges. If you suppress one, you suppress the others.

  7. Ming the Merciless says:

Hitler and the Kaiser did not have to pump steroid into anybody…the “people” just demanded war…same with the Russians and Americans destroying everybody east and west of them. These big war leaders like Genghis Khan, Alexander or Napoleon were just riding the crest of a big destructive blood lust wave by their “people”…

  8. Brad says:

On the other hand, is the “1.5 billion over three years” for the Guayaquil Pandemic a typo?

The population is shown as 5.3 billion for 2066, and remains unchanged at 5.3 billion in 2069.

  9. Remus Shepherd says:

I intended for the population drop to be more gradual, but you’re right that it doesn’t add up. I’m going to fix the population numbers when I make a graphical timeline for publication.

  10. Jay says:

@SCAScot: the immune system boost probably would have had as much or more effect on fertility. Mammals already have a hard enough time differentiating between foreign proteins from an invader and foreign proteins from a fetus (c.f. lupus and Rh+ incompatibility).

3 billion people does leave a lot of room to hide growing sub-groups or sub-races (a la Fumiaki’s various new sorts of humans). I wouldn’t call time on natural selection just yet… unless the Genocide Project decides to meddle again.
