The nature of evil may be epitomized, therefore, in two simple but horrible and holy propositions: ‘Things fade’ and ‘Alternatives exclude.’

Chapter 10, Page 11

This is a test of the Emergency Fanservice Delivery System.  This is only a test.  If it becomes necessary to deliver fanservice to the readers, be assured that our artist Michael is capable of providing it.  This has been a test.  🙂

Roger: Miss, did you say that Doctor Fumiaki gave you new legs?
Sally: Yeah! Aren't they amazing?
Roger: Um...I didn't know gene therapy could do...that.
Dahnai: Roger! (Don't trust him.) Come on. This is a bit of a horror show, but you'll want to see it...
Sally: Hmph.
Fumiaki: ...they're made of cultured whale flesh, but they have no brain. Just electronics.
Jacob: That's gruesome.
Fumiaki: Well, gruesome is as gruesome does...

  1. Grimlock13 says:

Lucky for us it was just a test…

Who am I kidding, bring us more test!

  2. Ming the Merciless says:

Some species are hopelessly ugly, like most breeds of monkeys. Some humans are aesthetically perfect,
as some canines, for instance…(thinking of my Pomeranian bitch) but Fumiaki seem to have managed pretty well with his She-dog there, she kept her grip even facing our leggy Jezebel! Maybe Jezebel will have better luck with Murderman!

  3. Zarpaulus says:

    @Ming: Eh, what?

  4. The Sidhekin says:

@Ming: Dahnai was Fumiaki’s inspiration, but is one of the few present that are not Fumiaki’s work.

(The others are Jacob and, presumably, Roger. Oh, and Fumiaki himself. Presumably. Oh, and all four are speaking on this page. How about that.)

  5. Remus Shepherd says:

    Sidhekin is correct.
As for Sally being a ‘Jezebel’, that might be a bit strong. She’s just a confident woman who likes showing off her legs. 🙂

  6. Jerden says:

I can confirm that the Delivery System worked as intended. Please remember that any emergency device should be tested regularly, to ensure full operating function in the event of an emergency.

Anyway, If my legs were a marvel of science, I’m sure that I’d show them off.
It’s just that my legs may not be as eagerly observed as Sally’s.

  7. Crorem says:

Dahnai and Fumiaki seem to have had some sort of incident, besides Dahnai’s whisper in this comic she mentioned to Fumiaki that he and her “don’t get along very well.” We didn’t see anything to indicate that in Chapter 6, though. Will that be explained later?

  8. Remus Shepherd says:

Oh, yes. Dahnai and Fumiaki’s relationship is definitely going to be explored soon.

  9. The Sidhekin says:

Got to thinking about Sally (I know) …

… is she built for speed?

  10. ve4gap says:

    Dahnai…
    …conveniently informative when needed…

  11. Joe says:

@Jerden I’d be showing them off, even if they looked like something out of Terminator or a muscleman. Damn fine innovation and he should be proud for figuring out how to make them look (and work) like they actually came from her family’s genes. It’s entirely possible that it wasn’t a genetic issue, but that seems unlikely in the 21st century or beyond. Not because there’s a lack of pollution that can cause it, but because it tends to go hand-in-hand with genetic damage.

  12. Joe says:

Yeah, I imagine he tried to clone her or something she didn’t like. Or tried something equally stupid in the realm of trying to copy her ‘gave her life’ aspect as if you could make it work for an entirely different species (or technically, phylum/kingdom).
