I might boast that, during all this scene of horror, not a sigh, or expression of fear, escaped me, had not my support been grounded in that miserable, though mighty, consolation, that all mankind were involved in the same calamity, and that I was perishing with the world itself.

Chapter 12, Page 9

All right, Jacob is bringing this little event to a conclusion with a quick escape.  Gonna linger in Britain for one more page.  Gotta see Lola’s reaction.

↓ Transcript
Jacob: Stay underwater. I'm coming to you.
Aide: ...he was last seen swimming in East Wear Bay.
Lola: Tell the R.A.F. to kill every whale in British waters. I want a list of casualties. I want interviews with their families, their neighbors, their pets. Full media coverage. Victims of the plague are second page. Jacob Doe's victims are the headline.

  1. Rob says:

Lola’s car looks like a Peel P50 in that last panel

  2. Sonja says:

Isn’t the water on the beach a little too shallow to jump in directly?

  3. NJB says:

Lola’s reaction feels more spiteful than her calm, cold, calculating demeanor so far. I’m guessing there’s a very messy breakup involved that she’s raw about and Jacob is either innocent or thanks to the Lethe protocol, none the wiser about..

  4. EveryZig says:

I think her actions are not motivated by spite, but by a calculated attempt guilt-based psychological warfare.

  5. The Sidhekin says:

I get the part about killing whales, but why list the resulting casualties …

  6. I see that our Genocide Project took some inspiration from the late avatar of order. This looks like something Mr. Grant would do to his enemies.

  7. chukg says:

    I wish I had a decontamination-chemical-proof tablet.
