Chapter 12, Page 16

I’m surprised nobody brought up the drawback that empaths have, which we saw back in chapter 4.  In a fight, Girii ends up feeling everything that she does to her opponent.  Obviously not full strength, though.  And she’s tough, she can work through it.

On a side note, I had some problems upgrading the site and some comments may have been delayed…I don’t think any were lost.  Sorry about that.  I’m going to be careful not to let it happen again.

Caera: Crying? Have I hurt you, freak?
Girii: No. I'm crying because I've hurt you.
Radio: Shou, this is Exit. Prepare for pickup, priority one. Essential that you clear the island.
Caera: Not now!

  1. Sonja says:

So fighting is a difficult thing for Girii…
Wonder if they plan to bomb the island?

  2. Moxie Man says:

Sonja: On bombing the island, in a previous chapter, Kevin commented about nuking some whales. I doubt even Shou could survive such a blast.

  3. Cray Z. Bouy says:

Girii’s feeling the pain of 3 people right now (and if Kentaro’s still alive, whatever he’s going through with the neurotoxin). She’s also feeling the collective rage of all present, which may give her the edge she needs.

  4. Darls Chickens says:

Most likely, she’s also sending the “defeated, give up” vibe.

Don’t ya think? Maybe not. Bah, I’ll never figure this story out. I give up.

  5. Ming the Merciless says:

She has not developed that potential yet…maybe the action will trigger it…Disturbing someone sympathetic nervous system(adrenalin)can lead to an unpleasant death…causing Girii to cry even more profusely…

  6. Ming the Merciless says:

From the story progression, it has to be worse than being eaten alive by crocodiles…

  7. Unmaker says:

    “nuke some whales”

I wonder if killing all three would be a net positive. I don’t prefer that way, I am just wondering.

I am disappointed that Caera isn’t getting her butt kicked more, but it makes sense according to the plot – she is the professional, heavily-augmented soldier while Msaka is a talented amateur and Girii doesn’t like to fight.
