Freddie experienced the sort of abysmal soul-sadness which afflicts one of Tolstoy’s Russian peasants when, after putting in a heavy day’s work strangling his father, beating his wife, and dropping the baby in the reservoir, he turns to the cupboard, only to find the vodka bottle empty.

Chapter 15, Page 9

Okay, before you all freak out, this is the first chance Kasey had to draw Jacob and of course I put him in a pose where he’s squinting.  Wait a couple pages before you pass judgement — believe me, the art that’s coming up is terrific.  And Jacob still looks like the everlovin’ round-eyed murderer he always did.  🙂

Roger: Jacob?
Jacob: Roger? Been waiting to hear from you.
Roger: Shh, keep it down.
Jacob: Don't worry about it. I've trained this guard to ignore me. He's tuned me out. Have you hacked into my lunch?
Roger: The commissary uses R.F. tags to keep track of its tableware. Zoey hacked the alarm speaker.
Zoey: Hi, Mr. Doe!
Jacob: Clever. So, what's the plan?
Roger: We're going to screw up every system on the base. Your door will unlock, security will go offline. It'll only last a few minutes. Can you make it to the airstrip?
Jacob: Think so. When?
Roger: In about five minutes.
Jacob: Good. Didn't want tofu for dinner, anyway.
