Chapter 16, Page 7

It looks like Caera might have better plans than to just battle a death machine like Jacob.  If nothing else, she knows she needs help against Lola, who is a death machine of her own.

↓ Transcript
Jacob: Did you come here to kill me or lecture me?
Caera: I came for your help...and to see if you were worth the effort. Can I trust Lola Lamb?
Jacob: Uh, no.
Caera: At first, I thought the project failed because it wasn't brutal enough. But I see now that the leadership is its flaw. Come back with me. Help me change the Genocide Project from the inside.
Jacob: Don't know if that's a good idea, but believe me -- brutality was never a problem for us.
Caera: Then you should lead the project. Decide for yourself how it should operate.

  1. Sonja says:

But can he trust Caera…? Better to trust no one in the Project!

  2. R.S. Laurent says:

Wait, so this whole elaborate dance was a JOB INTERVIEW?
You couldn’t just sit down with a cup of coffee and assess him silently while still obtaining the information you need?
You need to learn a bit of tact Caera, and the art of obfuscation while you’re at it………..

  3. G says:

@R.S. Laurent “Well, all your references are people I want dead, but your melee skills check out and you’ve got some top-notch banter, so let’s talk salary.”

  4. --jt-- says:

Lola may still be “a death machine” but she’s more reliant on machines for killing. Does this matter? idk!

  5. Cavelobster says:

Pretty impressive how relatively quickly she got over the whole Jacob shooting her with neurotoxins thing….I guess things like that are only just like a bad handshake or something when you join the project.

  6. God of Cows says:

Lola and Jacob are shaping up to be the two titans battling it out for the fate of the world. Lola with her vast resources, years of experience, the boys in the lab, and all the worlds deadliest weaponry vs. Jacob, backed into a corner with his friends behind him (metaphorically or literally). I almost feel sorry for lola.

  7. Z00l00k says:

Now I can see Jacob in a Riggs moment “I’m too old for that shit”.

  8. Z00l00k says:

Ooops, should be Murtahug, not Riggs (Lethal weapon reference)
