The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

Chapter 18, Page 21

Look, you’ve got to admit the face is an improvement, right?  And the genetic upgrades are nothing to scoff at…

↓ Transcript
Enrique: I'm not as pretty as I used to be...but what if I ask you to put that gun down? Nice and easy.
Jacob: You've -- got Girii's empathy.
Sally: Kentaro had her DNA available. Look, Jacob, I don't want any part of this.
Enrique: Quiet, Sally. Jacob here's going to hand his gun to me, and then just walk away.
Jacob: It's not going to happen like that, Ricky.
Enrique: Oh?

  1. vonBoomslang says:

I don’t know, I kinda liked the warthog face. Kind of a lot.

  2. Mike says:

“And the genetic upgrades are nothing to scoff at…”

I assume you’re speaking of the last panel, and the family jewels?

  3. Aldin says:

Ah, poor “Ricky”, wait until he learns (the hard way) the disadvantages of the side effects of having Girii’s empathy.

  4. Unmaker says:

Most of the abilities in this series don’t abuse my suspension of disbelief; unfortunately, the empathy does. There has to be some channel to carry the ability and, based on the effects seen, the actual mechanism has to be extremely strong and two way. So, what’s the channel? I could understand a chemical mechanism, except how does that explain feedback to the empathy user (the target doesn’t have projective chemistry to send it back)? Visual? Sound? Electromagnetic? Same comment on the lack of a feedback mechanism, plus there is no science available to believe that short-duration visual changes, sounds, or electromagnetics can change behavior that much (very small amounts yes; full-out mind control no).

  5. Ming the Mercviless says:

There is scientific evidence of strong empathy.
Dogs have been recorded on video going to wait at the door for their caretakers arriving at random times…I have seen my dogs doing the same for the wife driving home five minutes before her arrival…they somehow KNEW she was coming, far before they could sense her by hearing the car engine…

  6. Ming the Merciless says:

And we are going to have an empath President…who despite universal opposition from ALL the corrupt politicians and the fanatical subversives degenerates of the learning establishments, is suddenly more popular than any politicians ever in the USA! The horror of the vile and creepy European elites are a delight!

  7. Green says:

Dude, I’m SO glad every time I come back to this comic after a while and see that this author is still creating things.
