‘Mindless homocidal madness’ is one of those side effects that the FDA really frowns upon.

Not much opportunity for jokes during action sequences. Although I could note that Msaka sure seems to be enjoying that chicken wing.

(That might offend. Not sure. I’m doing a comic about genocide, you’d think I should have some idea of where the line is…)

Msaka: Miss Tu-ying! If those are genesensing gloves, this could be construed as an assassination attempt.
Caera: Hey! How -- I've been trained by wushu masters! Who trained you?
Msaka: Our next appointment will involve more security, ambassador. Walinzi, please show her out.
Keeba: That was close.
Msska: Not really, Keeba. She's slow.
Keeba: No, Msaka, she was not. Come, let's speak in your private office...

So the gloves pinpoint the genes and somehow target them via virus or toxin? Or maybe detect irregularities to catch the Genocide Project’s attention? I was wondering earlier, how the ambassador intended to assassinate without standard weapons, with guards mere meters away.

  2. Cyrian says:

I think the gloves just take samples from your DNA and check if you are a deviant or not and then work up the most accurate virus for your gene strean. Remember, as soon as the genocide project (or was it council?) knows about you, you are pretty much done for.

Thanks for asking! This is what I love about serialized storytelling — the readers can ask for clarification, and I can put more info in about the topic at some point. Er…not sure when, but I’ll see what I can do. 🙂

    For right now, though…

The gloves are just sensors that instantly read DNA samples. Jacob used them in chapter 1 and again at the start of this chapter. Once a DNA sample is taken, a virus can be engineered to target and kill that one person or gene group. Jacob mentioned that in passing two pages ago.

So this assassin (Caera; you’ll see more of her) tried to be subtle and just take a sample. But when she was discovered, she tried for the direct approach.

I think I know how to clarify this. It’ll be when I focus Caera a little more…three or four pages from now.

Right, I thought they’d been mentioned somewhere in connection with the project, but I only searched the transcripts for “genesensing” and “gloves.” Thanks!

Hooray, I got the hinted tech right! ^^
