Chapter 8, Page 1

Hi again, folks!  Welcome to Chapter 8!

I haven’t gotten everything put together, but this is going to be an exciting chapter, and not just because most of it is the Jacob/Joey showdown.  I’m making some minor changes to the website — you may have noticed that the top of the page features random quotes that I pulled from all over the net, including some of my most erudite and eccentric friends.  I’ll be putting up polls to get your feedback about a few things.  And I’ve got a sekrit plan…well, you’ll learn more about that soon.

As for chapter 8 itself I won’t spoil anything, but I can promise there will be some talking and some jaw-dropping revelations in-between the slugfest.  Thanks for reading the comic this far, and I hope you enjoy the climax of Book 1!

Jacob: How many got away?
Joey: About half the village. Maybe a thousand. I had to let some go. Didn't know which ones would bring you back. I also didn't know you were a collector, mate.
Jacob: It's not like that.
Joey: Secret admirer, then? Doesn't matter.
Jacob: Joey, this was unnecessary. I'm hot on the trail of Dr. Fumiaki. If you had just --
Joey: I'm following orders for once, mate. You've got people scared. Brought Lola out of retirement. She even gave me free reign. Always knew it would be down to you or me.

  1. Skur says:

Count me in for book two.

  2. Lucifus says:

Well I’ll stick around until the complete end.

  3. SCAScot says:

Only one comment about the quotes (because I know I’m in that quotefile) – the quote font is quite small, and the attribution is bigger. I’d reverse that.

  4. Ryan says:

I agree with SCAScot on the fontsize of the quotes/attribution.

  5. DaveP. says:

Shouldn’t that be “free rein”, as in horse?

  6. Remus Shepherd says:

I *think* the fontsizes are the same, but the attribution is in bold. I can reverse that, or make them equal weight. Let me fiddle with it.

  7. Jerden says:

This is looking to be very good. I’m just waiting for the violence to start!

  8. SCAScot says:

On my PowerBook G4 (and my Intel iMac), the quote now renders at approximately 12-14 point font size, and the attribution at about 6-8 point. Which is OK, because now I can read the quote.
