The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference. The opposite of art is
not ugliness, it’s indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it’s
indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it’s indifference.

Chapter 10, Page 22

All right, that’s Chapter 10 in the bag.  We had a lot of set up, and I’ll admit to some pacing problems as I got used to the new writer/artist system.  Chapter 11, I think, is going to blow your mind.  Everything heats up from here…

Lola: Like all of our generation, Jacob is worried that we left a poorer world behind. If there's a way to beat him, it will be through self-doubt. I'm sure that's what Joey tried. To beat Jacob Doe, be a better human being than Jacob Doe.
Caera: Is there any way I can do it by being young and brash?
Lola: (sigh) Look -- the nearest candidate island is less than a day from Britain. I'm sure it's clean. A conspiracy of deviants would be insane to base themselves so close. Take a day trip. Practice your surveillance techniques. Should be a nice place. It's a tiny island called Corvo.

  1. The Sidhekin says:

Uh, yeah. Sure. “Self-doubt”. That’s what Joey tried, all right.

  2. NJB says:

He certainly used Jacob’s guilt to draw him out. That poor village.. used as smoke signals.

  3. Jerden says:

Well, he did almost get Jacob when he told him that he was responsible for SO many deaths.
But Joey sort of failed at the being a better person part. Killing him probably made Jacob feel at least a little better.

  4. Crorem says:

Joey did try the self-doubt angle, though. He told Jacob that he had the deciding vote in setting off the Guayaquil Pandemic—a pandemic that killed more than a billion people. If that isn’t self-doubt, I don’t know what is.

  5. Brad says:

Is it a spoiler to remind anyone that the island of the crazy deviants was identified in the March 20th strip? 🙂

  6. AceOfSPade says:

“Nobody would place his conspiracy right under our noses, that’s absolutely not a trope, so I’m going to assume that the least likely island is really probably safe of any traces of conspiracy”

  7. Jerden says:

Well, she is at least searching it.
Just, only as a training exercise. This will be good.
