When I wanted a character to fly, such as the Silver Surfer, I gave him a flying surfboard — perfectly scientific, perfectly understandable, and not the least bit as frustrating as wondering how Superman does it.

Chapter 20, Page 2

Not much time for quips right now.  For me, at least.  Jacob can always sneak one in.

↓ Transcript
Msaka: Dennis, give her your medkit.
Girii: Why aren't you in pain?
Jacob: Combat chems. Kicked in hard. Don't feel a thing...except blood loss making me loopy. Heh. Lola...she is not playing around. She'll definitely have a retribution virus loaded. She's prepared to raze the world to stop you. Friends...innocents...screw 'em. At this point, they're just in her way.
Msaka: What can we do?
Jacob: Surrender.
Msaka: If we surrender, she'll execute us all.
Jacob: Yeah. I mean, not me...but probably all of you.

  1. Unmaker says:

He’s not in pain, so Girii isn’t in pain. OK. A retribution virus is self-defeating at this point – the mutants, at least some of them, will be immune, so releasing it just ends “natural” humanity, which would severely hurt everyone. Seems like Lola is forcing a Pyrrhic victory, or maybe she is in “let the gods sort them out” mode. Either way, she needs to go down, but the most likely weapon has just been severely wounded. Oh well, it’s not like the job had a retirement plan anyway…

  2. Eonknight says:

Well, Lola’s combat prowess seems to be tied to her chair’s automatic weapons; maybe if they can take it away from her, they stand a small chance.

  3. Tron says:

You really think Lola needs the chair, whether for walking or fighting? It’s just a force multiplier, LOLA is the force it multiplies. Jacob might be able to beat her, but the chair doesn’t factor into it.

    • Eonknight says:

I understand that, but her firepower seems tied to the chair and its automatic turrets. The matter of her genocide case is another story, but let’s see…. 🙂
